Track YOUR Grades

On Thursday in class, students used the following Excel Spreadsheet to track their grades for the six weeks. We will be using this in class every Friday so students are keeping track of their grades and how certain assignments affect their grades. It would be a great exercise to practice at home as well. You can log onto HAC and get the latest and greatest grades to input into this spreadsheet. Let me know if you experience difficulty or have other questions. Feel free to leave a comment and I can respond!

Extra Credit Opportunity

We are going to talk about Nets of 3-D figures in class and I need a good website to use. If you can find a website that has the nets of a cube, triangular prism, rectangular prism, square pyramid, triangular pyramid, cone, and cylinder email it to me. If it meets the requirements of the TEK 7.8B: make a net of the surface area of a three dimensional figure, you will get extra credit. Happy hunting!

March 9-13

On Level students will begin our unit on area and perimeter. We have soooo much to cover in a short amount of time that we need to bring our "A" game to class everyday! If we all give 100% we can make this work. We will find the area and perimeter of squares, rectangles, parallelograms, triangles, trapezoids and circles.

Accelerated students will finish the area and perimeter unit with composite figures. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday we will cover measurement conversions with Versatiles. Review Thursday and TEST on Friday.

Spring Break is coming! Keep focused for just one more week!

ATTENTION ACCELERATED STUDENTS

I made a mistake on the homework. Don't worry about the worksheet on area and perimeter. We will discuss it in class on Monday.

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

March 2 - 6

On Level students will be finishing our geometric properties unit. We will work on transformations: reflections and translations. Then TEST ON FRIDAY! The test will be over angles, complementary and supplementary, triangles, quadrilaterals, and transformations.
Accelerated students will continue with area and perimeter. We will look at circles, irregular figures, and composite figures this week.

Question: Are all squares rectangles?

Monday, February 23, 2009

Feb 23-27

Regular Math: This week we will take an adventure into triangles and quadrilaterals. We will look at these polygons and make conjectures and generalizations about the relationships of sides and angles. On Friday we will have a quiz on complementary, supplementary, triangles, and quadrilaterals so be ready.

Accelerated Math: This week we will finish our unit on transformations and geometric properties. Monday will be complementary and supplementary angles then we will review and take a test on Wednesday. Then we will move into area and perimeter.

Thursday, February 19, 2009

Angle Practice

Click on one of the links to the right under angle practice to play a fun game on angles. Remember that a complementary angle equals 90 degrees and supplementary angle equals 180 degrees. Have fun!
